St Jude’s tries to be relaxed and friendly. We don’t use hymn or service books, but instead project all the words you will need to take part onto our large screen. If you think church is somewhere you can’t smile and where you have to know what to do to join in, you will have a nice surprise with us. We really do want you to feel welcomed and comfortable the moment you arrive. (The picture in the banner above shows the current ‘front’ of the church. If you would like to have an impression of what our Next Era Building Project will be like, follow this link and watch the video.)
Our first congregation is gathering on Sunday mornings is at 10.30am. (We have a second congregation at 6pm) We have Bubbles for children up to 5yrs, Xtreme for those up to 10 yrs and our teenagers have their own session following the opening worship. All of these run at the same time as the adult service in our Halls on site except for summer school holidays and occasional All Age services at the major festivals like Harvest and Mother’s Day.
There is also a crèche area at the back of the church, were you can supervise your child and still partake in the service if they don’t feel comfortable leaving with the other young children.
The service talks sometimes follow the readings from the Church of England lectionary and other times themed weeks. We have a number of speakers on a rota, each with their own style. We take Communion together normally on alternate Sundays. The youngster groups rejoin the main service towards the end in order to share in communion and the final part of the service.
After the service, refreshments of fresh fair trade coffee and teas, fruit teas and hot chocolate are available with time to stay and chat.
Our Prayer Ministry Team is also always available to pray for people after each service, in confidence and with some privacy if you wish.
